This exciting all-day event, running from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., is a vibrant mix of live music, historical tours, artisan vendors, living history demonstrations, great food, and plenty of activities for all ages.

Whether you’re a history buff, music lover, foodie, or parent looking for a fun day out with the kids, there’s something for everyone at this beloved annual festival.

Dive into Davie County’s Rich History

Retrace the Steps of Daniel Boone and Revolutionary War Heroes

Daniel Boone spent nearly 25 years in the Yadkin Valley, and you can explore the landmarks that shaped his early life during guided historical tours sponsored by the Davie County Historical and Genealogical Society.

Tour times: 10:15 a.m., 12:15 p.m., and 2:15 p.m.
Duration: Approximately 1 hour and 45 minutes

Tour stops include:

  • Historic Joppa Cemetery, where Boone’s parents, Squire and Sarah Boone, and his brother, Israel, are buried
  • Boone Tract at Bear Creek, a 640-acre land grant to Squire Boone
  • Daniel Boone Marker in Farmington
  • Pudding Ridge, where General Cornwallis marched through deep mud in pursuit of Nathanael Greene

This tour offers a fascinating glimpse into early American frontier life and Davie County’s pivotal role in Revolutionary War history.

History Comes to Life

Colonial Demos at the Carolina Frost Cabin

From 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., stop by the Carolina Frost Cabin at the corner of South Main Street and Lexington Road for live, interactive demonstrations of colonial life. Costumed interpreters from the North Carolina Daniel Boone Heritage Trail will share traditions and trades, including:

  • Colonial music
  • Tomahawk throwing
  • Cooking and sewing
  • Fishing and more!

Don’t miss the thrilling flintlock musket firing demonstrations at 11:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m.

“We encourage everyone to attend the Daniel Boone Festival—it’s a wonderful opportunity to experience a bit of colonial history and learn more about Daniel Boone’s time here in Davie County,” said Linda Leonard, president of the Davie County Historical and Genealogical Society and treasurer of the North Carolina Daniel Boone Heritage Trail. “People are always amazed at the amount of history they discover in Davie County, and I’m thrilled that our two organizations were able to work together to bring these talented interpreters to the community.”

Music That Moves You – All Day and Into the Night

Free Concert Series from Noon to 8 p.m.

The festival may wrap up at 5 p.m., but the music keeps going until 8! Bring a chair and enjoy performances from top-notch regional artists on the downtown stage.

The Band Tess

Get ready to dance! The Band Tess combines blues, beach, funk, country, and rock into an unforgettable show. With powerhouse vocals from Tess Welch, the smooth rhythms of Grady McClamrock, Gary Chilton’s electrifying lead guitar, Frank Aldridge’s solid bass lines, Jerry Smith’s soulful keyboards and sax, and Darren Boles’ infectious drum beats, they’ll have you on your feet.

Huckleberry Shyne
