Wake Forest Baptist Health – Davie Medical Center in Bermuda Run will be hosting a community day on Saturday, May 21 from 10 a.m – 2 p.m, rain or shine.
The free event has something for everyone, including plenty of food, music, car seat safety checks, health screenings, face painting, a balloon artist, giveaways and more.
Fun for the Kids
A bike rodeo will be held from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Children should bring their own bicycles to the rodeo and each child will also be provided with a free helmet while supplies last. The Farmington and Smith Grove Fire Departments will be on hand with fire trucks for the kids to explore.
Distracted Driver Simulator
Stop by the cardiac rehabilitation classroom in Plaza 1 from noon to 2 p.m. and experience first hand why it isn’t safe to text and drive.
Free Health Screenings
Medical staff will offer free health screenings including vision, foot, cholesterol, blood pressure and glucose checks. The pharmacy will be open for questions about medicines.
A chef from Best Health will hold a healthy cooking demonstration from 10 a.m to 11 a.m. followed by a tasting session in the cardiac rehabilitation classroom in Plaza 1.
Lowe’s Foods will be providing healthy foods samples.
The popular Peachtree Farmers Market will also be held in the front parking lot.
“We are so excited to be a part of making our community healthier,” said Chad Brown, president of Davie Medical Center. “Our friends and neighbors will also be able to see the progress that is being made on our new inpatient facility.”
The new 50-bed addition is expected to open in the spring of 2017.
