Your Voice Matters — Share Your Thoughts on Traffic Safety!
The Piedmont Triad Regional Council (PTRC) is on a mission to improve traffic and roadway safety for everyone — whether you’re walking, biking, driving, or using public transit. To make this happen, we need your input! By taking the Safety Action Plan survey, you can help shape safer streets for our region and ensure that the most pressing safety concerns are addressed.
Why Your Feedback is Crucial
Our region must be properly represented so we can identify the most important and impactful safety issues — and use this information to secure future funding for necessary improvements. Your feedback will help highlight major concerns and priorities for future projects and initiatives.
The project area includes the City of High Point, Caswell, Rockingham, Surry, Yadkin, Randolph, and Montgomery Counties, as well as portions of Guilford, Davidson, Stokes, Davie, and Forsyth counties and the municipalities within these areas. Every voice counts, and your perspective is invaluable.
About the Safety Action Plan
The PTRC planning department has been awarded a US Department of Transportation (USDOT) Safe Roads and Streets for All (SS4A) grant to develop a comprehensive Safety Action Plan. This plan involves collaboration with the High Point Metropolitan Planning Organization (HPMPO), Northwest Piedmont Rural Planning Organization (NWPRPO), and Piedmont Triad Rural Planning Organization (PTRPO).
Using this funding, the project team will study traffic crashes and safety conditions across the region. By working with the North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT) and area jurisdictions, the plan will focus on preventing traffic fatalities and serious injuries through:
- Implementing a Safe Systems Approach
- Educating the public about traffic safety
- Enacting safety-focused policies
- Addressing the five key elements: safe users, safe roads, safe speeds, safe vehicles, and post-crash care
The Safety Action Plan is a vital step toward reducing fatalities and injuries, enhancing quality of life, and creating safer, more efficient transportation networks for everyone. The project began in Winter 2024 and will continue through 2025, with full completion expected in early 2026.
