Doc Watson once remarked that, “The Kruger Brothers are just about as fine a band as I’ve ever played with. … I love to play music with them.”
The Carolina Bible Camp Bluegrass Festival on Saturday, September 13th, will feature the highly acclaimed Kruger Brothers, the Snyder Family Band, and Red June. Gates will open at 10:00 a.m. and music starts at 11:00 a.m. The festival will conclude at 5:00 p.m.
In 2007, the Krugers Brothers received the Award for Artistic Excellence from the National Endowment for the Arts. In 2011, Jens Kruger was inducted into the Blue Ridge Music Hall of Fame, and in 2013 he won the coveted Steve Martin Prize for Excellence in Banjo and Bluegrass Music.
The Snyder Family Band will also perform. The Snyders are highly regarded musicians who are currently nominated in multiple IBMA categories. Siblings Zeb and Samantha Snyder are the talented guitarist and fiddler, respectively, and father Bud Snyder plays upright bass. Mother Laine Snyder provides sweet harmony vocals on several selections. Younger brother Owen has been known to steal the show with his gentle humor and advancing guitar talent.
Red June will also join the lineup on September 13th to play two sets. Red June hails from Asheville, North Carolina. They have built a solid reputation in bluegrass music circles as consummate acoustic and vocal performers. Songwriter John Cloyd Miller won top bluegrass category honors at MerleFest in 2013 for his song, “Cloud of Dust.” He is also the recipient of a North Carolina Artist Fellowship for songwriting from the North Carolina Arts Council.
