Whether photography is your passion, your hobby, or just an occasional pastime, you are invited to participate in the Davie County Arts Council‘s photo contest, celebrating the beauty and unique character of Davie County. Compete for cash prizes ~ All entries will be exhibited at the Brock Gallery from January 13th through March 1st!
Everyone Encouraged to Participate!
Both amateur and professional photographers are welcome to participate. The complete official contest rules are available at the Davie County Arts Council’s office Noon till 5:00 p.m. until Wednesday, December 22nd. The basic rules of the contest are that the image is a place, an event, or thing that has been photographed in Davie County; a description of the location is required on the entry form. Photographs are to be submitted unframed and must be mounted. Photographs must be a minimum of 8-inches by 10-inches. Each photographer is allowed to enter (2) prints for $15.00 by payment of cash or check. Davie County Arts Council retains sole discretion as to what image may be entered in the contest. Artists will need to review all the contest rules prior to entering their work.
Convey the Beauty and Unique Character of Davie County!
Entries will be judged on the basis of creativity, photographic quality, and effectiveness in conveying the beauty and/or unique character of Davie County.
A panel of professional judges will judge the entries and all contest decisions are final. Entries that do not comply with the Official Contest Rules will not be accepted.
Entries for the contest will only be accepted and checked-in on Tuesday, January 4th 2011, between the hours of 5:00 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. or on Wednesday, January 5th from Noon until 4:00 p.m. at the Davie County Arts Council.
Cash Prizes To be Awarded
First, second and third place winners will be announced at a reception (open to everyone from 5:30 p.m. until 7:00 p.m.) on Thursday, January 13, 2011. The First Place Award will be $350; Second Place Award-$225 and Third Place Award-$100. In the event of inclement weather on that date another date will be announced. All photographs will be exhibited in the Brock Gallery from January 13th until March 1st.
