Ready Your Wings and Wands: Free Fairy Walk in Downtown Mocksville This Saturday!

on June 20, 2023

What could be more magical than taking an enchanted fairy walk? Dress up as a fairy, goblin, or wizard, and head to downtown Mocksville this Saturday, June 24th, 10 a.m.- 1 p.m., rain or shine, and join in the fun.

Flutter along the trail searching for fairy doors, and find the goblin door, if you dare. Visit Mystical Meadow for fun and games, wander around the downtown shops for treats, find the enchanted garden with storytellers and fairy photo spots, and then fly to Pixie Plaza for a DJ dance party and food trucks. Eric & K’s BBQ, LLC, Snickety Snacks, The Sunny Lemon, Justice Farmhouse Cupcakes, and Jason’s Italian Ice will be serving up delectable dishes.

There will be a bounce house and slide, face painting, and  Mr. Marvel’s Magic Show will create balloon art. Most activities are free. A few, like fairy hair and food, do have a fee.

Fairy Walk activities will run along Main Street from Main Street Park to Hwy 64 and along Depot Street. Participants are invited to hop on the trail at any point and follow the Fairy Walk signs.

Free parking is available at Skyline National Bank, the Town Hall parking lot at 171 S. Clement Street, and next to Main Street Park at 278 N. Main Street.

This event was a huge hit last year, so the Downtown Mocksville Collaborative (DMC) was excited to host it for a second year.

“The overwhelmingly positive response from last year’s event, mixed with the excitement from the community about this year, is sure to make for another magical, memorable Fairy Walk!” said Dottie Graham, president of the DMC. “The DMC is thrilled to be able to sponsor the Fairy Walk again this year. The outpouring of support and excitement from the community brings a lot of visitors to Downtown Mocksville, many of which have never been here before!”

“The Fairy Walk offers merchants, service providers, and community members a chance to enjoy a whimsical morning of fun,” added Suzanne Lakey, vice president of the DMC and owner of Southern Ties Boutique and The Station. “The DMC is excited to bring this event to life with the help of so many. As a business owner, I love seeing all the kids dressed up and being able to give back to a community that loves and supports us so well.”

Last year’s merchants are looking forward to participating again this year. Monica Stone-Huggins, owner/broker of Main St. Brokers, loved being part of the first Fairy Walk in Downtown Mocksville in 2022. “We were overjoyed to see such a response. We handed out over 100 fairy wands in the first 45 minutes! At the end of the event, it was around 400 wands.”

“It was wonderful seeing so many people participating and getting to know and see and familiarize themselves with Downtown Mocksville. Our local businesses really brought the spirit into the events with the participation, decorations, and excitement for the social event. We are honored to be a part of this event again in 2023 and all future annual Fairy Walks.’
