From dangerous weather and environmental hazards to criminal activity and missing persons, emergencies can happen without warning. Davie County’s Hyper-Reach notification system keeps you informed and prepared by delivering timely alerts about threats that could impact your neighborhood.
But you must sign up.
Thousands of public safety agencies across the US use telephone-based mass notification systems to warn citizens about local emergencies, hazards, and other threats. Davie County launched Hyper-Reach in July 2022 to bring this life-saving capability to the area.
The emergency alert system provides rapid notification of hazardous and urgent situations using a combination of telephone calls, text messages, and email messages, as well as TTY/TDD services for individuals who are deaf or hard of hearing. The system can send thousands of these messages to geographically targeted households in seconds.
The Town of Mocksville recently had the opportunity to utilize the Hyper-Reach system after a loss of water pressure prompted the issuance of a temporary boil-water notice. Residents who had signed up for Hyper-Reach received a notification quickly.
“Hyper-Reach is an excellent tool for quickly and efficiently sharing important information on a large scale,” said Rodney Pierce, Davie County 911 director. “All residents need to do is sign up. We live in an information age, and Hyper-Reach provides a fast, reliable way to receive accurate updates directly from the source.”
“This modern tool is designed to keep our community connected, informed, and prepared, and is part of the county’s commitment to public safety, ” added Tony Scarlett, Davie County’s chief technology officer and IT director. “We would love everyone in the county to be signed up for these critical notifications.”
“It’s fast, free, and you control how you want to receive the information, Scarlett continued. “We take privacy very seriously, and the information you submit will be for official use only and never shared.”
Signing Up is Easy!
White-page listed landline phones are automatically enrolled for 911 community alerts. However, weather alerts to landline phones, as well as community and weather alerts to VoIP phones, mobile phones, and email addresses, are only included when individuals enroll. Using a phone number without voicemail or an answering machine is discouraged because if you miss the Hyper-Reach calls, you will not receive the message.
Residents and people who work in Davie County are encouraged to enroll (using a county street address) by calling or texting “Alert” to (336) 477-2478 or by going to the website http://hyper-reach.com/ncdaviesignup.html (English) or https://bit.ly/3xs0Ifl (Spanish).
You can enroll multiple phone numbers when you call. Please note that emails can only be registered online. Residents can receive emergency alerts via Alexa-enabled smart speakers by saying, “Alexa, enable Hyper-Reach,” and following the instructions provided by Alexa.
Residents can download the Hyper-Reach Anywhere app on a smartphone. It is a free smartphone app that allows residents to manage and monitor alerts for their home and office addresses, as well as other addresses they care about, such as those of elderly relatives or friends.
If you enrolled in Hyper-Reach through Davie County after July 2022, you do not have to take further action. However, please update Hyper-Reach anytime the information you used when enrolling changes.
If you encounter any issues with enrollment, please contact Davie County and request assistance by completing the questions/comments form on the county’s website at https://www.daviecountync.gov/.
