The Davie County Arts Council knows that despite COVID, the show must go on! It will present a virtual showing of the Brock Players’ “The Ladies of Harmony” on Saturday, February 27th at 8 p.m.

The Brock Performing Arts Center, like so many other theaters and galleries, has been closed since March 16, 2020. “We are looking forward to the time when we can once again provide live performances and safely exhibit artwork in our small gallery,” said Shanda Smith, office manager, Davie County Arts Council Brock Performing Arts Center. “Until that time we are looking for other ways to provide art connections.”

“The Ladies of Harmony”

Performed by six talented actors who live in Davie County, “The Ladies of Harmony” is guaranteed to charm theater lovers of all ages.

Prepare to laugh as six church ladies arrive at Harmony Church’s fellowship hall to plan a small funeral dinner for a man they despised. While eating doughnuts, drinking coffee, and gossiping on a variety of topics including Pastor Bob’s go-go dancing fiancée, the church ladies engage in a game of “what-ifs” and “I-wish-I-hads,” and in doing so, reveal several secrets about themselves. However, the biggest shock comes the next day when an unexpectedly large crowd of mourners arrive at the funeral dinner and the ladies have to endure their most embarrassing moment yet!

Purchasing Your Ticket

Call the box office at (336) 751-3000 Monday-Friday from noon – 5 p.m. Tickets for the virtual performance are not available online or by a walk-up visit at the Brock. The cost is $12 plus the 6.75% NC Admissions Tax.  Your credit card will be charged $12.81 (no refunds or credits will be issued after your purchase).

No orders will be accepted after  5 p.m. on Wednesday, February 24, 2021.  On Thursday, February 25, you will receive another email with your access code so that you may view the play on your Smart TV, computer, or tablet.  This code will not be activated until Saturday, February 27 at 8 p.m.

Just like a live show at the Brock, the performance will be shown only on Saturday, February 27 at 8 p.m.

Watch the Performance on your Computer, Smartphone, or Tablet

You will be given your access code on Thursday, February 25 via email.  If you do not receive the email please check your graymail/junk file. Call the box office no later than Friday, February 26th if you don’t receive the second email with your virtual code.

Tech Tips

They also recommend clearing your browser’s cache and ensuring your browser is updated to the most recent version. If you have watched other pre-recorded shows on your computer you should have no trouble watching our comedy on your computer. You can take it a step further by connecting your computer or laptop to your Smart TV with an HDMI cable. This will allow you to watch the performance on your TV rather than your computer or laptop screen.  They recommend that you enter the code 10 minutes before showtime.

Watch the Performance on your Smart TV

If your Smart TV has a web browser, you will enter the code that was emailed to you. If you have not watched a virtual performance on your SMART TV before – please contact your wireless or tv cable provider for assistance as soon as you have purchased your virtual ticket.  There are numerous ways to connect a Smart TV to web browsing depending on your internet provider. The Arts Council cannot recommend how to connect your Smart TV to the internet.
