NC DOT contract forces will be closing all lanes of westbound I-40, during weekends, at the Yadkin River Bridge in order to perform bridge preservation work.
A new concrete overlay will be places on the riding surface of the bridge. The bridge is at the Forsyth/Davie County line at mile marker 181 approximately 1 mile west of the Harper Rd. interchange (Exit 182).
Highway to remain open Memorial Day weekend
The road closures will occur beginning on Fridays at 8:00 PM with the road reopening by 6:00 AM on Mondays. The road closures are anticipated for the following three weekends: May 17-19, May 31-June 3, June 14-17, and June 21-24; with no work during the Memorial Day weekend.
These closures will be in effect pending good weather. There will be a signed off-site detour during the closure. Portable message boards or overhead message signs will be utilized during the weeks leading up to the closures advertising anticipated dates of closures. Motorists are advised to use other routes or avoid this area if possible during these times. Please use caution in this area and stay alert due to heavy congestion.
