veterans coffeeA Veterans’ Coffee will be held in Mocksville on the first Thursday of each month beginning this Thursday, March 5, from 8:30‐10:30 am at Sagebrush Steakhouse, 1562 Yadkinville Road.  Veterans will have the opportunity to meet, share stories, and enjoy informal presentations by community organizations in Davie County.

Don Timmons, Event Coordinator and Vietnam veteran, explained Hospice & Palliative CareCenter’s involvement. “We are inviting local veterans to enjoy these Coffee events as our way of saying thanks for your service, to provide an opportunity for fellowship and camaraderie and also to offer access to local resources that our veterans may not be aware of.”

Around the country and here in North Carolina similar events are being held to provide veterans a place to gather and for local health and human service organizations to show their support by offering a casual environment where veterans can meet and learn about services available to them.

The Veterans’ Coffee events began at Outback Steakhouse in Winston-Salem.  Now, the events have grown to include Mocksville, Greensboro and King.
