The countdown is almost over! After six years of extensive resident input, park design master planning, and construction, the eagerly awaited Davie County Community Park, including the Splashpad, opens tomorrow, Tuesday, July 14th.
“Words cannot express how excited our team is to finally open this gem up to the public!” exclaimed Whitney Fitzsimons, special events & marketing coordinator for Davie County Recreation & Parks. “There are obvious modifications to our opening that we did not expect would be necessary when we first started planning for our grand opening. However, we all agree that having the park open for use was a much better choice than waiting until we could have the celebration it deserves. This park will now become an essential piece in the fight toward a healthier Davie Community.”
She shared Davie County Recreation and Park’s (DCRP) approved, updated contingency plan for the safety of the community as it relates to COVID-19.
“Please note that your DCRP team is continually keeping up with the newest developments of the COVID-19 pandemic. We will let those developments determine how we will continue to respond, so all information below is subject to change.”
As the park opens, the following restrictions and guidelines will apply.
Gatherings will be limited to 10 indoors/25 outdoors.
A highlight of the park, and one of its most anticipated features, is the largest Vortex Splashpad in the state! The Splashpad offers a variety of water features that combine the sensations of different water movements – flowing, misting, jetting — to entertain children of all ages.
In order to meet the current Phase 2 safety guidelines, advanced online pre-registration is required. The Splashpad will be open seven days a week with multiple two-hour timeslots available each day.
The area will be thoroughly cleaned between timeslots.
The cost is $1 for children (15 and under) and $2 for adults (16 and up), including observers.
Each person in the group seeking entrance to the Splashpad must be included in the reservation and multiple timeslots on the same or subsequent days may be reserved at the same time.
DCRP is also offering an exciting array of special events and programs at the park to spice up your summer.
Head to the park on select Friday nights as the parking lot is transformed into a retro drive-in movie theater.
Advanced registration is required. You can begin purchasing tickets two weeks before the event.
The Fee is $5 per car. The parking lot opens at 7 p.m. and the movies begin at dusk. All attendees must stay in their vehicles!
The Park’s grand opening celebration, DC AMP Fest, and the mother-son game night have been postponed until 2021.
Online pre-registration is required for all programs and special events.
DCRP is excited to offer a variety of specialty camps this summer some with modifications as we follow updated guideline releases.
