Driving Innovation and Economic Growth in the Community

Avgol, a global leader in nonwoven fabric production, has made a significant investment in its Mocksville facility, reinforcing its commitment to innovation and economic development. The company has invested $100 million to introduce a new multibeam spunlaid production line and a laminate finishing line, further solidifying its status as the largest producer of nonwoven fabric worldwide.

Commitment to Growth and Advancement

During a ceremony celebrating the expansion, Diego Boeri, Fibers Executive President for Indorama Ventures (Avgol’s parent company), emphasized the importance of this investment.

“We are celebrating a very important moment in the life of this business. Investing in this line is a big commitment for us—for the hygiene and medical industry, for the U.S. region, and for innovation,” Boeri stated.

Despite the economic uncertainty caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, Avgol remained steadfast in its vision for growth.

“The last few years have been difficult, with ups and downs around the world, but Avgol stuck with our priorities and pulled off a $100 million investment during challenging times,” Boeri continued. “Our growth model is based on strategic partnerships, service orientation, and product innovation. We believe this investment will make us stronger and bring the products our customers need to market. We measure our success by the success of our customers.”

A Strategic Decision to Expand in Mocksville

Avgol CEO Sivan Yedidsion echoed Boeri’s sentiments, reflecting on the company’s decision to bring the project to North Carolina.

“It’s been four years since we initially planned this line for our plant in Russia. I’m really glad we brought it here. Thank you, board members and shareholders, for having confidence in us to move forward on this project,” Yedidsion said.

While celebrating the expansion, Yedidsion highlighted that the work was far from over.

“The project has come to an end, but now the journey starts. We have confidence in the Mocksville team to do a great job and ramp up this line as soon as possible,” he added, before thanking local officials for their support. “We do projects in many places and rarely see this level of support.”

A Major Development for Davie County

This expansion marks the fifth major growth initiative at Avgol’s Mocksville facility since the company acquired the plant from Unifi in 2001. The addition includes 63,000 square feet of manufacturing and operational space, featuring cutting-edge Reicofil 5 (RF5) technology to meet the increasing demand for ultra-lightweight nonwoven fabrics used in baby diapers, feminine hygiene products, and medical applications.

Avgol, majority-owned by Thailand-based Indorama Ventures Limited Company, remains a dominant force in the hygiene sector, supplying high-performance materials for essential consumer and medical products. This latest investment reaffirms its long-term commitment to U.S. manufacturing and market expansion.

Local Leaders Applaud Avgol’s Continued Commitment

Local officials praised Avgol for its sustained investment and strong partnership with Davie County.

Mocksville Mayor Will Marklin acknowledged Avgol’s global reach while emphasizing its local impact.

“I pulled up the Avgol website this morning and noticed their facilities—one in Israel, one in Russia, India, and China—and their American operation is in Mocksville, North Carolina. I have told my family many times that Mocksville is the hub of the international commerce universe,” Marklin said. “As Mayor of Mocksville, I truly believe this is the best place in the world to live, raise a family, and do business. I look forward to our continued partnership with Avgol America.”

Davie County Commissioner Benita Finney echoed Marklin’s sentiments, expressing gratitude for Avgol’s ongoing investment in the region.

“I just want to thank you for continuing to invest in Davie County. We are so grateful for our long partnership and for your success here. We do agree—it’s the very best place in the United States. You’ve been a great partner for as long as you’ve been here, and we are thankful you are here today.”
