Lace up your running shoes and get ready for a fun-filled morning at the 13th Annual Popsicle 5K, hosted by the Davie Community Foundation SURF Board! Mark your calendars for Saturday, February 22, 2025, and come out to support youth-led grants that directly benefit children and youth in Davie County, NC.
Whether you’re a seasoned runner or just looking for a great way to support a worthy cause, the Popsicle 5K welcomes participants of all abilities. Not a runner? No problem! Walkers are encouraged to join in the fun. The race kicks off at 8:30 AM, with packet pick-up and on-site registration starting at 7:15 AM.
Exciting New Additions & Fun Activities!
The SURF Board has some exciting surprises planned for this year’s race – and we think you’re going to love them!
In addition to the traditional race, here are some fun ways to participate:
- Raffle Ticket Giveaway – Each participant will receive a raffle ticket at packet pick-up for a chance to win amazing prizes!
- Wintry Costume Contest – Show off your creativity by coming dressed in your best chilly costume. The most creative outfit will take home a prize!
- Brain Freeze Challenge – Take on the ultimate test of endurance by eating a popsicle at the start, middle, and end of the race!
- Zero K Option – Want to support the cause but not up for the run? Sign up for the Zero K and cheer on the runners while still making an impact.
- Kids’ Activities – Kids ages 8 and under who aren’t racing will have a blast with activities hosted by SURF students while their parents participate.
Supporting Youth in Davie County
All proceeds from the Popsicle 5K go towards funding youth-led projects through the SURF (Students Understanding Real Futures) Board, a youth philanthropy board under the Davie Community Foundation. Important Notes:
- Registration closes at 4:59 PM on 2/19 and reopens at 7:00 AM on Race Day.
- All participants must sign a waiver to participate.
- No pets allowed on the course.
- Stick around after the race for great food and prize opportunities!
