Calling all runners, walkers, and St. Patrick’s Day enthusiasts! The 34th Annual Shamrock Run 5K, hosted by the Rotary Club of Mocksville, is set for Saturday, March 15th, at 8:15 a.m. Lace-up your running shoes, grab some green gear, and get ready for a fun-filled morning in the heart of downtown Mocksville!

 A Family-Friendly Tradition

Now in its 34th year, the Shamrock Run 5K is a beloved community event that welcomes runners of all ages and abilities. Whether you’re racing for a personal best or just out for a stroll, this event is the perfect way to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day weekend!

The scenic 5K route will begin and end at O’Callahan’s Publick House (115 N. Main Street) and wind through downtown, passing Rich Park, Mocksville Elementary School, and the Davie Family YMCA before looping back to the finish line.

  • At the Shamrock Run 5K in Mocksville, a group of people gather under a canopy at the community event. Volunteers in blue and green shirts manage a small table with donation boxes, while others stand around wearing green, some holding goody bags. A firetruck and inflatable structure are visible in the background.

Running for a Cause

Proceeds from this year’s race will benefit Davie County Community Park and the Davie Family YMCA, continuing the event’s long-standing tradition of giving back.

People Helping People: A Legacy of Community Giving

St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church began hosting the Shamrock Run 5K & 10K in 1988 as a church fundraiser. Several years later, they decided to have a greater impact on the community by sponsoring organizations that help those in need. The Shamrock Run raised thousands for organizations in need throughout Davie County, including:

  • A Storehouse for Jesus
  • Special Olympics,
  • Family Promise of Davie,
  • Habitat for Humanity
  • The Dragonfly House,
  • Davie Domestic Violence and Rape Crisis Center
  • Davie County Pregnancy Care Center
  • Hospice & Palliative Care of Davie County
  • Davie Family YMCA

The run was canceled because of COVID-19 in 2020. As the pandemic subsided, so did the number of dedicated volunteers at the church.

In 2024, the Rotary Club of Mocksville proudly took over hosting duties, ensuring this cherished event continues to make a difference in the community. “The Mocksville Rotary Club looks forward to continuing this long-running tradition for many years to come,” said event organizer Will Marklin.
