Calling all Pirates and Mermaids! Free Pirate Party in Downtown Mocksville

on September 5, 2024

Ahoy there, Mateys! Don your best pirate or mermaid costume and join us for a free Pirate Party in downtown Mocksville on Saturday, September 14th, from 1 – 4 p.m., rain or shine.

Sail down Main Street in search of treasure. Pick up a map from any Downtown merchant and make sure to stop at each business along the path for a treat. Turn in your completed map to one of the three merchants marked with a red X to be entered into the prize drawing. There will be swashbuckling games, face painting, and fairy hair at Main Street Park.

Pirate Party activities will run along Main Street from Lydia Jaynes to the quad and left down East Depot Street. Participants are invited to hop on the trail at any point along the map.

Free parking is available at Skyline National Bank, the Swicegood Group parking lot at 279 N. Main Street, and the Town Hall parking lot at 171 S. Clement Street.

This event was a hit last year, so the Downtown Mocksville Collaborative (DMC) is excited to host it for a third year.

“The positive response from last year’s event, mixed with the excitement from the community about this year, is sure to make for another fun-filled Pirate Party,”  said Dottie Graham, president of the DMC. “The DMC is thrilled to be able to host the Pirate Party again this year. The outpouring of support and excitement from the community brings a lot of visitors to Downtown Mocksville, many of whom have never been here before!”

“The Pirate Party offers merchants, service providers, and community members a chance to enjoy a whimsical afternoon of fun,” added Suzanne Lakey, vice president of the DMC and owner of Southern Ties Boutique and The Station. “The DMC is excited to bring this event to life with the help of so many. As a business owner, I love seeing all the kids dressed up and being able to give back to a community that loves and supports us so well.”

The DMC is grateful to event co-sponsors, the Town of Mocksville and Davie County Tourism, as well as the participating businesses that help ensure the success of this event. For updates about the Pirate Party and information about future events, visit the DMC’s FB page HERE
