Although their facilities won’t be completed for months, Davie County’s new industry partners now have access to temporary office space thanks to a partnership between the Davie County Economic Development Commission (DCEDC) and Davidson-Davie Community College. Palltronics, the maker of the world’s first fully-trackable shipping pallet, has chosen Mocksville for its first manufacturing facility. The highly-anticipated pallets are already sold out for the first three years of production. The Michigan-based company has leased a new 253,000 square foot industrial building in the SouthPoint Business Park on US Hwy 601 North and plans to invest more than $40 million in equipment and upfitting to create a world-class advanced manufacturing facility capable of producing more than four million pallets annually. Global chemical company, Scott Bader, has acquired a new facility in Mocksville as it strives to meet growing domestic and global demand for its market-leading structural adhesives and gelcoats. The company has invested $16 million to purchase a 110,000 square foot industrial building on a 15-acre site in the SouthPoint Business Park on Hwy 601 N. With further investment, the site will be developed into a state-of-the-art gelcoat and structural adhesives manufacturing facility. “If you are ever in a Volkswagen, Daimler, or BMW, and it’s really quiet, you’re welcome,” says Jerry Sutphin, vice president of Dr. Friest Automotive (DFA) US. The Germany-based company, which designs and manufactures sound deadening and insulation materials for the automotive industry, is relocating and expanding its US manufacturing operations to Mocksville. Hayward Holdings, a global designer and manufacturer of pool equipment and associated automation systems, plans to open a new 324,000 square-foot distribution facility in Mocksville by the end of 2021. Hayward will be the first tenant of the Davie Industrial Center at 202 Gildan Road. Once completed, the Mocksville center, combined with the company’s existing facility in Clemmons, will bring Hayward’s Southeast-based footprint to approximately 1.3 million square feet of combined manufacturing and distribution operations.
