Saturday Strolls at the Advance Farmers Market
Shop Small. Shop Local. Support Missions.
Start your Saturday mornings with a stroll through the Advance Farmers Market, held at Advance First Baptist Church (1938 NC Hwy 801 South). Now in its fourth season, the market runs every Saturday from 9:30 a.m. to noon, April 25 through October 3, 2026, offering a vibrant mix of local food, handmade goods, and meaningful community connection.
You’ll discover a wide variety of items each week, including locally grown produce, fresh herbs, farm eggs, and colorful flowers, along with fresh pork, home-baked goods, jams, plants, handcrafted gifts, and seasonal surprises. This season brings both returning favorites and new vendors—farmers and crafters alike—making each visit something special.

Fresh Flavors & Local Favorites
The market features two dedicated bakers rotating throughout the season. “Mission Manna” kicks things off on April 25 with a unique donation-based model, offering freshly baked goods with no set pricing to support local missions. Beginning May 2, the beloved Johnson House Bakery & Tea House joins the lineup, bringing Ms. Laura’s famous cinnamon buns, apple pies, fruit danishes, mini bundt cakes, and cookies.
Creativity Blooms Monthly
Crafters are featured during the first three weeks of the season, leading up to Mother’s Day, then return every last Saturday of each month. Talented vendors add a burst of creativity and color, offering unique, handmade treasures you won’t find anywhere else.
Special Events This Season
The Advance Farmers Market hosts several special events throughout the season, creating even more reasons to visit:
- God & Country Day – July 4 (9:30 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.)
Enjoy free live music, games, hot dogs, drinks, and a festive community atmosphere alongside the market and crafters. - Farm-to-Table Day – July 18
Sample delicious dishes made on-site using fresh, local produce from market vendors. - Oktoberfest (Non-Alcoholic) – October 3
Celebrate the season finale with fall goodies, apple cider, games, free samples, and a petting zoo.
More Than a Market
The Advance Farmers Market is proudly mission-based. Vendor booth fees directly support mission and outreach efforts through Advance First Baptist Church. The market also participates in the Senior Farmers Market Nutrition Program (SFMNP), allowing eligible seniors to receive vouchers for fresh fruits, vegetables, herbs, and honey. For more information, residents can contact the senior center in Mocksville.
Beyond the market, vendors and organizers give back in meaningful ways. The market supports a non-perishable food pantry at the Advance Volunteer Fire Department and partners with Serving Our Neighbors, a non-denominational ministry that provides weekly meals in Cooleemee and Mocksville. Donations of fresh produce, eggs, and bread help extend the market’s impact far beyond Saturday mornings.
“Our goal is to provide opportunities for farmers to sell their fresh produce, meat, eggs, honey, and plants to local people,” said Carolyn Shoaf, the market’s director. “As 1 Peter 4:10–11 reminds us: Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others… so that in all things God may be praised through Jesus Christ.”
