Sugar Valley Airport is holding its annual fly-in/drive-in on Saturday, September 27. The public is welcome and everyone is invited to enjoy the festivities, airplanes, live music, crafts, arts, magic show, and a wonderful presentation by those who use aviation for service to their communities. Hot dogs, fries, hamburgers, popcorn, ice cream available. Activities begin at 9:00 am with a Spot Landing Contest, and continue throughout the day until 3:00 PM.
Try your hand at flying a real life simulator. Watch the pilots vie for a prize if they land their planes close to designated spot. Check out the wide variety of aircraft. The Williams Brothers will entertain us. Remote control aircraft will awe us. And, at 10 a.m. a couple of smokers will fly over and excite us.
Sugar Valley Airport was established to support general aviation but also to encourage educational, recreational, and creative endeavors in our community. Sugar Valley Airport is home to the Civil Air Patrol cadet program for students 12-18 years old. This program focuses on: community service, leadership training, technical education, and character development.
The Sugar Valley Airport facilities are used to support the continuing education of pilots through “ground school”, as well as providing a meeting place for special classes in arts and crafts like silk painting and pottery.
Aviation enthusiasts, those interested in learning more about the opportunities available, and those looking for a fun family weekend event, will all enjoy a visit to the “Spirit of Aviation: Making a Difference” Fly-in.
So “fly in or drive in” on Saturday, September 27th, from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. and you won’t be disappointed.
