The first weekend of December is upon us with a host of events to help you kick off the holiday season. If you are not quite in the Christmas spirit, it’s time to pack up the family for a weekend in Davie County filled with holiday cheer.
Mocksville’s Hometown Christmas Parade – Saturday, December 4th
This beloved tradition has delighted young and old for decades and is sure to get you in the spirit. Mocksville’s Hometown Christmas Parade will feature everything from walking groups, performers, horseback riders, single vehicles to full-blown floats, candy for the kids, and of course, Santa Claus. The parade will depart from Rich Park on Saturday, December 4 at 2 p.m. and will travel down Main Street, turn left on Depot Street, and end at Railroad Street where dismantling will begin.
This year’s theme is “The Twelve Days of Christmas.” Prizes will be awarded to the best parade participants. First place wins $75; second place will receive $50; and third place earns $25.
Road Closings
Please note: N. Main Street will be closed to all traffic by 1 p.m. and the parade route streets (Main, Depot, Park, Poplar, etc) will be closed to ALL traffic by 1:15 p.m. so that the parade may start on time at 2 p.m. Find your parade seat early and do a little Christmas shopping. The downtown merchants would love to help you find the perfect gift for that someone special!

Christmas in the Town of Bermuda Run – Sunday, December 5th
You’re sure to feel the magic of the season when the Town of Bermuda Run hosts its inaugural Christmas in the Town of Bermuda Run on Sunday, December 5, 2021, from 2 – 5 p.m. at the Gazebo in the Kinderton Business Park.
Here’s what to expect when you attend:
- Gingerbread House contestants must have their houses registered between 1:30 – 2 p.m.
- 2 p.m. – Mayor Rick Cross opens the festivities. Soon after that, Santa will arrive escorted by the Davie High School Dancing Boots and Pep Band. Following the performance by the Dancing Boots, the games and carriage rides will open. You will need a ticket for the carriage ride. If you do not receive a ticket upon entering the Gazebo complex, please see one of the greeters, and they will gladly provide you with tickets.
- 2:30 – 4:15 p.m.- Craft activities, a letter to Santa booth (children may write a letter to Santa and share it with him or have it sent via Reindeer mail ), there will be sweet treats, and much more.
- 3:30 p.m.- Gingerbread House contest awards announced followed by the Tacky Sweater Contest.
- 4:15 p.m. – Dr. Seuss will make an appearance and read a story written for the event. The Shady Grove Chorus will follow and will feature some best-loved children’s Christmas songs.
- 4:45 p.m. – Tree lighting followed by a sing-a-long.
Donations Welcome
If you can, please, bring a small gift for the children served by Family Promise and a personal care item for the seniors served by A Storehouse for Jesus. There will be collection boxes at the event.
