It’s a Wrap – Racing into the Holiday Season at the Mocksville Bed Races!

on November 23, 2021

“Twas the Night Before Bed Race” and all through the town,

were a series of teams wishing the flag would go down;

More rapid than eagles the race beds they came,

And the crowds whistled, and shouted, and called them by name!

The Town of Mocksville raced into the Christmas season on November 19th with the 9th Annual “Twas the Night Before” Bed Race as 12 teams made a mad dash down Main Street.

The mood was festive as hundreds lined the street in eager anticipation. Race announcer Justin Blue kept the crowd cheering and in the holiday spirit with hula hoop, tricycle, and rock/paper/scissors contests and partner wheelbarrow races. Following the bed races, DJ Barry Rentz had folks dancing in the streets to end the evening.

“This was one of the best bed races yet due to the spectators, the teams, and all of the support we received,” said Community Development Coordinator Tami Langdon. “I’d like to thank our volunteers from The Bridge Church; Town of Mocksville staff, Public Works, and Parks & Grounds;  Mayor Will Markland, Davie County Sheriff’s Office, GLAST Graphics, Barry Rentz with the Mobile Jukebox, and our sponsor Skyline National Bank for making the event such a success. A special thanks to our committee: Chair Denise Hendrix, Trevor Walterman, Jordan Hendrix, and our newcomer, Justin Blue.”
