Mocksville’s Junker Family Reflects on Decades of Dedication to Quality and Community

A Storied Journey Rooted in Family Values

Trailers of the East Coast (TOEC), a cornerstone of Mocksville, NC, is commemorating a remarkable milestone—80 years in business. Since 1945, the Junker family has faithfully served the community through four generations, beginning with Ted Junker’s “Junker Bros. Hardware” store located on Salisbury Street. By 1965, the business had evolved into “Junker & Son Feed Mill,” and in 1985, the family transitioned into trailer sales. That venture would become Trailers of the East Coast, now operating from a 12-acre facility just off I-40 since 1996.

Serving the Nation with Global Reach

Today, TOEC is a specialized transportation dealership with clients spanning the globe. Their lot features a wide variety of trailers and Class C motorhomes from top manufacturers. The team works with major corporations like Coca-Cola, Verizon, and Samaritan’s Purse to design and deliver custom trailers for everything from emergency response and training simulators to mobile marketing units.

Since 1990, TOEC has also become North Carolina’s go-to source for motorsports transporters, working closely with NASCAR teams throughout the Southeast. Most recently, in 2023, they became a trusted dealer for Evolve Transporters, a new line of cutting-edge race car transporters. With on-site service, parts, and graphics departments, TOEC is a one-stop destination for trailering needs of all kinds.

A Timeless Business Philosophy

While the products they offer have evolved over the years, the Junker family’s core business values remain the same. President Bill Junker attributes their success to a simple principle instilled by his father:

“It’s simple,” said Bill Junker. “You give people a good product or service at a fair price, and you stand behind it, and you do what you say you will do. One of the things my dad bestowed on me was watching him take so much pride in the community. Everything he sold was a relationship with that person. He felt obligated that each person would not be disappointed in the product he sold them. That is something we take great pride in. The people that trust us and do business with us, whether it be sales or service; I promise you, you are going to be pleased. We are there for the long haul, and we are just so excited about what the future holds.”

A Team with Deep Roots in the Community

TOEC’s commitment to its people is evident in the makeup of its nearly 50-person team, which boasts over 476 combined years of experience. Eleven employees have served with the company for more than 20 years, and another 17 for over a decade. Most are Davie County residents, as are more than 60% of TOEC’s customers—further underscoring the company’s strong local impact.

“For eight decades, the Junker family business has grown and served the Davie County community and beyond with superior customer relationships and commitment to customer satisfaction no matter what products they were selling,” said Terry Bralley, Davie County Economic Development Commission president. “Like most successful businesses, they were always looking ahead and were able to change with the times. In a small community, we all spend a lifetime developing a reputation for doing what we say. Their good fortune didn’t happen accidentally. It took hard work, sacrifices, many prayers, perseverance, and years of doing the right things to make all this happen. We are blessed in Davie County to live in a place where dreams really do come true.”

Celebrating Milestones, Supporting the Community

True to their humble beginnings, the Junker family is celebrating this 80-year achievement with a company picnic and barbecue at Bill Junker’s home—an event that reflects the company’s enduring family spirit. In addition, TOEC marked its milestone anniversary by making a meaningful contribution to the Dragonfly House Children’s Advocacy Center in Mocksville.

“I am just so proud of our accomplishments as a company in 80 years,” said Bill Junker. “The community, my family, and our many partners and employees have always been there supporting us. The structure and foundation we have built under us have truly become our launch pad toward a bright future in the years to come. As I sit here today in my office, I have never been prouder and more excited about the vision and future of TOEC. God has blessed us tremendously, but I always say, our biggest blessing is our family of employees.”
