The Unemployment numbers for November have just been compiled by the North Carolina Employment Security Commission and the Davie County unemployment rate remained stable at 8.9% for November 2010 (the most recent figures available). Unemployment in North Carolina grew in November for every North Carolina county except Davie County. Since November of 2009, unemployment in Davie County has fallen from 10.8 to 8.9%.
The WRAL web site includes an interactive graphic showing unemployment rates by month for every county in the state. A review of the data shows the Davie County unemployment rate at 8.9% for November with all surrounding counties above 9%.
While The November unemployment rate in Davie County remains below the state average, the real story is that statewide, jobless rates increased in 99 of North Carolina’s 100 counties in November and stayed flat in only one, Davie County. This is just one more reason that we can all be proud of Davie County’s excellent workforce development programs, great local schools, 11 area colleges and universities and effective private and public partnerships that effectively address the challenges of growth.
