A Legacy Rooted in Family and Passion

Established in December 2023 by JW and Kristen Ray at the former site of RayLen Vineyards, Rayson Winery & Vineyards is a family-owned and veteran-owned establishment. The name “Rayson” is a heartfelt tribute to their two sons, Joey and Logan Ray, who actively contribute to the winery’s operations, from vineyard management to event coordination. The Rays’ dedication to excellence is evident in every aspect of the winery, from the meticulously tended vines to the warm hospitality extended to every guest.

Award-Winning Wines That Captivated the Judges

At the recent competition, Rayson presented a selection of wines that impressed the judges with their complexity and character:

  • Rkatsiteli: This ancient varietal offers enchanting aromas of crushed stone, peach skin, and fresh apple, complemented by hints of honeysuckle. On the palate, it delivered vibrant stone fruit flavors with a subtle touch of spice, culminating in a crisp, clean finish.
  • Chardonnay: Crafted from grapes nurtured under the North Carolina sun, this barrel-aged Chardonnay boasts captivating aromas of melon and citrus, framed by notes of toasted oak. Its velvety mouthfeel and lingering finish made it a standout.
  • Petit Verdot: Marking Rayson’s inaugural bottling, this opulent wine showcases notes of plums, blackberries, blueberries, and toasted oak. Its full body and harmonious integration of flavors led to a long, velvety finish.
  • Vidal Blanc: This exquisite wine seamlessly blends the essence of crushed stone, pineapple, and fresh pear with subtle hints of white flowers. Its refreshing crispness and clean finish left a lasting impression.
