It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas, and your local merchants are ready to help you find that perfect gift for all of the special people on your list!

The Davie County Chamber of Commerce has created two initiatives to highlight Davie County’s unique shops, tantalizing restaurants, and delightful services and activities to encourage everyone to support your friends, neighbors, and community by shopping local.

“Shopping where you live is like giving a present to your friends, neighbors, and even yourself,” said Chamber President Caroline Moser. “When we choose to purchase goods and services in the community where we live, we are investing in the well-being of our community and also creating a more prosperous place to live.”

iSHOPDavie Days is a virtual event supporting local businesses in celebration of Small Business Saturday. During this weeklong event, the Chamber will be posting daily videos from a few of our amazing local businesses.

Show your support for these businesses by visiting this page daily, November 23-28, and liking, commenting, and sharing! This event is sponsored by Collette Art & Framing.

Why Should You Shop Local?

  • It’s Practical
  • More FUN – Less Stress
  • A Personal Touch
  • Shared Values
  • You Feel Good About Supporting & Shopping Small

It’s Practical

Gift shopping is essential. No one wants to be the one to explain why Santa couldn’t visit this year. Being safe is crucial, and stores are taking extra cleaning precautions and providing face masks and hand sanitizers. Given the headaches involved with traveling to large urban centers for Christmas shopping—tangled traffic, scarce parking, interminable checkout lines, shopping local saves time and money.

More Fun – Less Stress

Anticipation Schmanticipation- life has enough uncertainty! When you buy in person, you don’t have to wait (shipping delays!) or worry about what an item REALLY looks like. Is it as big as it looks online? Is the fit going to be right? What about the colors? Every computer screen looks different – remember the dress controversy? Yikes! When you see an item yourself, those fears melt away, and the only thing you have to wait for is the look on their face when they unwrap the perfect gift.

A Personal Touch

There is nothing like the personal touch you experience when working with local boutiques and businesses. They know quality merchandise, and they are staking their small-town reputations on providing you with only the best they have to offer in products and services. The brands you love, plus out of the ordinary gift choices and specialty items along with personalized services, you won’t get from big-box stores or online.

Shared Values & Shopping Small

Local business owners care about the things you care about. They live in our neighborhoods and share the same values. They give back to our communities. They are the ones who donate to your kids’ schools, send items to the humane society and the local food pantries. They are there for you day in and day out. Let’s make sure they will be there after the pandemic. Supporting local boutiques and businesses feels good and shows that you are a pretty smart shopper!
