Development of RiverPark at the BullHole in Cooleemee has focused primarily on the Rowan County side of the South Yadkin River up to this point.  That is all about to change!

Saturday, March 5 from 8 AM to 2 PM
Join the Davie County High School War Eagles Football Team players and coaches and a team of local volunteers on the banks of the South Yadkin River this Saturday from 8:00 AM to 2:00 PM to help build the Cooleemee Trail to RiverPark, from the old Riverside Hotel at the end of Cross Street in Cooleemee, down the hill to the old railroad track bed.  This trail will be the main pathway to RiverPark from the Cooleemee side of the river and help transform the vision for “RiverPark at Cooleemee Falls – The Bullhole” into a reality.

One of 12 Great Places to Visit in North Carolina
Already recognized across the state and the region as a natural and recreational treasure, RiverPark at Cooleemee Falls – The Bullhole is regularly featured as a must-see destination on television and in print publications.  In 2010, it was named as “One of the 12 Great Places to Visit in North Carolina” by Our State Magazine.

Building a Vision
During the initial development phase, organizers purchased more than 80 acres in Rowan and Davie — with 32 of them in Cooleemee.  The park’s master plan calls for a walking bridge to be built linking both river banks and a river outfitter shop to produce sustaining income.  Lately there has even been talk of a zip line.

“Every able-bodied person needs to come out and help this Saturday,” says John Peeler, vice president of RiverPark, Inc. the non-profit group responsible for the park. If numbers allow, some work teams will labor on the Rowan side this Saturday, clearing out brush near the river and repairing paths.

Breakfast biscuits, snacks, and lunch will be provided for volunteers.  To better organize work teams and count how many volunteers to feed, RiverPark asks volunteers to call 704-284-6040 to say they’re coming.
