2012-Davie-County-Christmas-OrnamentThe 2012 Christmas holiday season is in full swing in Davie County with lots of events and things to do for the entire family.

While not exactly in Davie County, many of us enjoy time with family and friends each year at the Festival of Lights at Tanglewood Park in Clemmons.  Each year more than 250,000 people attend the 4 mile display with more than 1,000,000 lights.  For details see Tanglewood Park.

Free ~ Hometown Holidays Hayrides ~ Friday night, December 14 from 6:30 to 8:00 PM in historic downtown Mocksville.

Free ~ Christmas Open House at Misty Creek Farm and Vineyards ~ Saturday, December 15 from 1-5 PM.  Steve Figel will be playing guitar from 2-4 pm and Eric Henderson, owner of Big Daddy’s Rubs, will be doing a cooking demo using his rubs and Misty Creek wines (sautéing yellow and zucchini squash with Superb-Herb seasoning and sautéd chicken marinated in Big Daddy’s Marinade).  There will also be some Christmas goodies laid out.  For more details visit Misty Creek Farm and Vineyards.

Free ~ Christmas Stories with a visit from the Grinch ~ Saturday, December 15 at 12:00 PM, 2:00 PM, 4:00 PM and 7:00 PM at The Book Rack, Historic Mocksville’s Community Bookseller located at   114 North Main Street in Mocksville.  Each session lasts only about 10 minutes and parents are required to stay on site during the story times.  The Grinch will make an appearance at the 2 PM and 7 PM story times.  Visit The Book Rack of Mocksville for more information.

Horse and Buggy Rides ~ Saturday, December 15 from 6:30 – 8:30 PM.  Enjoy Historic Downtown Mocksville illuminated by the lights on the majestic oak trees, planter box trees and rooftops with Horse and Buggy Rides.  $7 per person-children 6 yrs & under free.  Rides depart from Gallery 185 At the Station on Main, 185 Main St.  For more information visit Historic Downtown Mocksville.
