“The Town of Mocksville and Davie County Emergency Management continues to monitor the path of Hurricane Florence. Based on information received from the National Weather Service and the National Hurricane Center, Davie County should anticipate:

  • Early Thursday morning: rain and the potential arrival of high winds.
  • Friday through Sunday: sustained periods of heavy rain with the potential of 7-10 inches total accumulation with tropical storm force winds.

Residents are encouraged to keep cell phones charged in advance of the storm. In the event that you experience a power outage, please DO NOT call 9-1-1. Outages can be reported to the following:

Duke Energy Customers:
1-800-POWER-ON
Text OUT to 57801

www.duke-energy.com/outages.

Energy United Customers:
1-800-EUNITED (1-800-386-4833)

In the event of widespread power outages or severe flooding, emergency shelters will be established and additional communication will be forthcoming. Please note – a storm emergency phone line (336-753-6169) has been established to assist residents with issues that may arise from this weather scenario.

Residents are encouraged to visit www.ReadyNC.org for storm news and ways they can prepare for inclement weather. Smartphone users should also download the ReadyNC app for real-time updates.  Download the app at https://readync.org/EN/DOWNLOADAPP.html.  This is an all-in-one tool that provides real-time traffic, weather conditions, and information on stream and river flooding, power outages, and evacuations. “

The above information will be distributed on our available social media but feel free to post it anywhere that reaches the public. We will continue to monitor the storm and provide updates as necessary. Feel free to call me with questions or concerns and I will try to get you any information that you need. I will provide the Mayor with a State of Emergency Declaration that will allow us to receive FEMA reimbursements for any overtime, equipment or repair to public infrastructure as a result of the hurricane.
