Austin Cook wants to be an anesthesiologist.  It typically takes 12-14 years to become a licensed anesthesiologist: four years of undergraduate study, four years of medical school, and four years of residency, followed by one year in a fellowship program or two years in private practice. Local Corporation Invests in Community Youth

First-Ever Engineering Showcase at New Children’s Museum Young local engineers show off their cardboard trains and mini-golf creations at the first-ever COGNITION showcase event sponsored by Ashley Furniture. COGNITION’s Cardboard Engineering Summer Showcase is taking place on Saturday, July 24from 3-5 p.m. at COGNITION Davie (119 N. Salisbury Street). Early Literacy Videos Support Davie County Pre-K Teachers and Families During Pandemic

Once the camera is ready, Stephanie Nelson begins to record another learning video for Davie County’s preschool teachers and the families of children who are learning from home. Nelson, Davie County’s preschool collaborative teacher, was hired with funds from DavieLEADS (Literacy Empowers All in Davie to Succeed), a five-year, $2.5 million grant initiative between Davie County Schools (DCS) and the Mebane Foundation to improve kindergarten readiness and to increase the percentage of students reading proficiently by the end of third grade.
