There is nothing quite as sweet as honey from your own back yard.

Did you know North Carolina has more backyard beekeepers than any other state?  Have you ever considered keeping bees?  Would you like to know more about this fascinating hobby or occupation?  Join the Davie County Beekeepers Association for the 2 day class, “How to Get Started in Beekeeping.”

Classes Begin Saturday, May 10, 2014
When: Saturday, May 10th and 17th, 9:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m.(two classes)
Where: Davie County Public Library, 371 N Main St.Mocksville, NC 27028
Course Fee: $35.00 per person
Contact: George Snyder at (336) 492-2350 for more information or register online now to reserve your seat.

Classes will include information on what to do first, costs, where and how to acquire materials, seasonal hive management, honey bee biology, and dealing with pests.

You’ll also learn about products from the hive, how to extract honey, and lots more.

Davie Beekeepers – 40 Years of Service
As reported in the Journal West
, the Davie County Beekeepers Association has been helping members enjoy the hobby of beekeeping since 1972 and is part of the North Carolina State Beekeeping Association. The state association has been around for almost a century, and is the largest state beekeeping association in the country.

Friendly neighbors and helping hands
In addition to the information you glean from this course, you will have the opportunity to meet other beginning beekeepers as well as some “old-timers”.  You’ll make contacts with local beekeepers who can provide answers to future questions as well as continuing support.  You can find a mentor to help you with your new adventure, and club members can even help you “install” your first package of bees or capture a swarm.

Catch the Buzz! Reserve your seat today
Learn why beekeeping has caught the attention of so many people across America in the last few years, and why the health of the honey bee is an integral part of the well being of our planet.  Catch the buzz and reserve your seat.  Preregister online with the Davie County Beekeepers Association.
