Honoring Martin Luther King, Junior

Almost 60 years ago, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. had a dream. 2022 Mocksville Tourism Grant Cycle Now Open!

Do you have an idea for a project or event that would attract visitors to Mocksville but need funding assistance to make it happen? Did you know that the Davie County Chamber and Davie County Tourism accept grant requests annually for projects that positively impact tourism in Davie County?  The Davie County Chamber of Commerce wears many hats. Elementary school is an important time in the life of a child. They will learn their ABCs and 123’s, colors, shapes, and how to write their name. Their hand-eye coordination will increase. Although their facilities won’t be completed for months, Davie County’s new industry partners now have access to temporary office space thanks to a partnership between the Davie County Economic Development Commission (DCEDC) and Davidson-Davie Community College.  The hallmark of Davie County’s economic development success has long been its spec building program. For more than 20 years, companies have jumped at the chance to purchase or lease a building shell that is ready to be upfitted to their specifications. Mocksville Christmas Parade Wrap Up!

Although it didn’t feel like Christmas, holiday spirits were high as thousands lined the streets Saturday for one of Mocksville’s most beloved traditions, the Mocksville Hometown Christmas Parade.  The crowd waved and children scrambled for candy as the 78 participants, everything from walking groups, performers, single vehicles to full-blown floats, and of course, Santa Claus, traveled down Main and Depot Streets.  Mocksville Community Development Coordinator Tami Langdon appreciates all of the parade entrants and said that the points were very close for awarding top prizes. Downtown Mocksville Merchants Awarded Main Street Makeover Grants

Small businesses are the lifeblood of any community. On Tuesday, eleven Downtown Mocksville merchants received over $22,000 in Main Street Makeover micro-grants designed to help them not only survive, but  thrive through COVID. The funds were awarded through the Duke Energy Foundation’s Hometown Revitalization grant program which was established to help local businesses across North Carolina – from restaurants to retailers – adapt to the unprecedented challenges caused by the pandemic. Davie County was one of 30 communities selected to receive a $25,000 grant through a partnership with the Davie Community Foundation, Davie Chamber of Commerce, and Community Development Coordinator from the Town of Mocksville.
