In June, Davie County was one of 10 communities across the country to receive the prestigious All-America City/County award from the National Civic League. You can show your pride by wearing a limited edition Davie County All-America County t-shirt! You asked, and we’ve answered! When the All-America delegation returned home from Denver, numerous people asked about purchasing one of their “We Are Davie” team t-shirts. Davie County was officially recognized as a 2023 All-America County by the National Civic League during the Davie County Commissioner’s meeting on July 10th. “I was extremely impressed by the collaborative spirit of Davie County as well as the multiple avenues available to young leaders, and I loved the enthusiasm and results that were shared as part of the presentation,” said Patti Garrett, National Civic League board member, immediate past president, and Mayor of Decatur, Georgia, who came to present the plaque to the commissioners and Davie County community. After winning All-America County status, Davie County’s tired but elated delegation returned home from Denver, Colorado, to a warm welcome from family, friends, and the community. Davie County is one of only ten communities across the country to receive this prestigious award from the National Civic League this year. Davie County, NC, has been named an All-America City by the National Civic League. Davie County was one of 20 communities selected as finalists from across the country to compete for this prestigious award in Denver, Colorado. The National Civic League’s All-America City Award has celebrated the best in American civic innovation since 1949. Although the award is called All-America City, it is actually a competitive forum of best practices open to cities, counties, tribes, and community organizations of all types. After weeks of planning and preparation, Davie County’s team leaves for Denver early Thursday morning to compete against 19 other finalist communities for the honor of being named an All-America City. The National Civic League’s All-America City Award has celebrated the best in American civic innovation since 1949. The award, bestowed yearly on ten communities (over 500 recipients in all), recognizes the work of communities in using inclusive civic engagement to address critical issues and create stronger connections among residents, businesses, nonprofits, and government leaders.
