In June, Davie County was one of 10 communities across the country to receive the prestigious All-America City/County award from the National Civic League. You can show your pride by wearing a limited edition Davie County All-America County t-shirt! You asked, and we’ve answered! When the All-America delegation returned home from Denver, numerous people asked about purchasing one of their “We Are Davie” team t-shirts. After weeks of planning and preparation, Davie County’s team leaves for Denver early Thursday morning to compete against 19 other finalist communities for the honor of being named an All-America City. The National Civic League’s All-America City Award has celebrated the best in American civic innovation since 1949. The award, bestowed yearly on ten communities (over 500 recipients in all), recognizes the work of communities in using inclusive civic engagement to address critical issues and create stronger connections among residents, businesses, nonprofits, and government leaders. Everyone who lives in Davie County knows what a special place it is. Soon other communities around the country will know it as well. Last month, the National Civic League selected Davie County as a finalist for this year’s All-America City Award. We will now compete against 19 other communities in Denver, Colorado, June 9-11, 2023. Davie County is flourishing with respect, compassion, and bright-minded individuals from all walks of life. The Davie Respect Initiative, or DRI, is a program that embraces these characteristics of our county to encourage and promote the youth in our community to actively demonstrate respect. What started as a small program has now grown into a more well-known movement with ambassadors, team leaders, and generous donations from community members.
