Two Juneteenth Celebrations Planned in Davie County

Juneteenth: Celebrating Freedom and Reflecting on Progress Juneteenth, also known as Emancipation Day, Jubilee Day, Freedom Day, and Black Independence Day, is a deeply significant holiday in the United States. Celebrated on June 19th, Juneteenth marks the day in 1865 when the last enslaved African Americans in Galveston, Texas, learned of their freedom—over two years after President Abraham Lincoln signed the Emancipation Proclamation. Free Health Screenings, Health Information, Shredding & More – Senior Health Expo, Thursday, January 18! 

Join Davie County Senior Services for the 2024 Senior Expo on Thursday, January 18, 1-3 p.m. at the Brock Gymnasium, 644 N Main Street in Mocksville. Admission to the event is free and open to members of the community of all ages. This exciting event will feature health screenings, health information, and vendors, plus the shred truck will be available on-site to shred sensitive documents.  In addition, this event will be the kickoff for the 31st season of Davie County Senior Games and SilverArts.
