Davie Community Foundation Breaks Ground on Cognition Interactive Learning Center and Makerspace in Mocksville!

It all starts with a scoop of dirt! The Davie Community Foundation (DCF) broke ground last week on COGNITION, an interactive learning center and makerspace coming to downtown Mocksville in January 2020. The mission of COGNITION is to create an interactive space for children, families, and the community to acquire knowledge through adventurous play, investigative learning, and creative growth. Davie Health and Rehabilitation Center ~ New, State-of-the-Art Skilled Nursing Facility Open in Mocksville

Davie Health & Rehabilitation Center celebrated its grand opening with a ribbon-cutting ceremony and the opportunity for area residents to explore the new 59,000 square foot, 108-bed state-of-the-art skilled-nursing facility on Madison Road in Mocksville. Owned and operated by Saber Healthcare, the facility replaces Autumn Care of Mocksville which the company purchased in March 2016. The old 33,000 square foot facility on Howard Street was built in several phases beginning in the 1950s and continuing through the early 1990s. Celebrating Success of the 2019 For Your Health Expo

Hundreds of Davie County citizens took the first step toward improving their health by attending the 2019 For Your Health Expo presented by the Davie County Chamber of Commerce and the Davie Family YMCA. Sponsored by Wake Forest Baptist Health – Davie Medical Center, Foster Drug Company, Warren Hearing Solutions, and Snyder’s Cleaning Service, the For Your Health Expo offered access to important information as well as direct interaction with a variety of medical service providers.  Several free health screenings were offered including cholesterol, blood pressure, spinal, bone density, and glucose. Construction Begins on Park at old Davie County High School

DavieLEADS gives Cooleemee Elementary a boost

Davie County Public Schools got some good news last year. After the 2017-18 End-of-Grade test results were announced, the county discovered it had moved up from 45th to 17th out of all 115 districts in the state for third-grade reading proficiency. Make and Take – DavieLEADS Supporting Early Literacy Teachers in Davie County Schools

  For two hours on a Monday afternoon, the Central Davie gym resembled a workshop. Seated at long tables, teachers were talking and laughing while cutting word strips, sorting and bagging colored squares, and taping the edges of shower board to create small whiteboards.
