Travel and Tourism ~ Visitors to Davie County Spent $28 Million Here in 2010

According to data released by the state of North Carolina, visitors to Davie County spent more than $28 million in Davie County during 2010.  This is a 7.5% increase over the previous year. Economic Impact Visitor spending in Davie County during 2010 generated over $5 million in local payroll and helped fund 260 jobs here in Davie County. Visitor spending in Davie County during 2010 also generated $530,000 in local tax receipts. Incumbent Worker Grant of $25,000 Awarded to Carolina Precision Machining The Northwest Piedmont Workforce Development Board has announced that Carolina Precision Machining Inc. has been awarded an Incumbent Worker Training grant of $25,000 to obtain AS9100 training for their workforce. Davie County Students Excel in 2010-11 School Year

Positive Trends Continue On August 4th, the State Board of Education approved the AYP and ABC’s Results for the 2010-11 school year and Davie County Schools continue to see a positive trend in academic achievement. AYP is the evaluation of schools’ “Adequate Yearly Progress” as outlined by the Federal No Child Left Behind Act of 2001.
