Further Easing of Restrictions on Businesses and Gatherings Effective Friday – Vaccination Rates Play Key Role

Beginning at 5 p.m. on Friday, March 24th, some places in North Carolina will be able to open at 100% capacity, including museums, aquariums, retail businesses, and salons. During a COVID update on Tuesday, Gov. Roy Cooper also announced that restaurants, breweries, wineries, amusement parks, gyms, and other recreation establishments will be able to have up to 75% capacity indoors and 100% outdoors. Additionally, as part of Executive Order 204, bars, conference centers, sports and entertainment arenas, and reception venues will be allowed to increase capacity up to 50% indoors and outdoors. The Park at Lake Louise Celebrates Grand Opening With Ribbon Cutting

Nestled next to Colin Creek Golf Club is Davie County’s newest recreational gem – The Park at Lake Louise. Community officials and residents were invited to explore the park on March 20th as owners Dr. Joel and Beth Edwards celebrated its opening with a ribbon-cutting ceremony and hotdog lunch. “Deep,” says Susan Shepherd to her first-graders. “Deep,” they repeat.  “Replace the /p/ with /l/,” she says. “Deal,” shouts her students.  Shepherd is guiding her students through their daily Heggerty Phonemic Awareness lesson. Phonemic awareness is the ability to understand that spoken words are made up of individual sounds called phonemes, and it’s one of the best early predictors for reading success. Once the camera is ready, Stephanie Nelson begins to record another learning video for Davie County’s preschool teachers and the families of children who are learning from home. Nelson, Davie County’s preschool collaborative teacher, was hired with funds from DavieLEADS (Literacy Empowers All in Davie to Succeed), a five-year, $2.5 million grant initiative between Davie County Schools (DCS) and the Mebane Foundation to improve kindergarten readiness and to increase the percentage of students reading proficiently by the end of third grade. Modified Stay-At-Home Order Ends Friday – Other Restrictions Eased

Gov. Roy Cooper announced in a press conference today that the Modified Stay-At-Home Order will end at 5 p.m. this Friday, February 26th.  Changes that come with the easing of the coronavirus restrictions include: No more curfew The gathering limit increases to 25 people indoors and 50 people outdoors Businesses will be able to operate at 50% capacity Bars, taverns, movie theaters, and indoor amusement centers can reopen at 30% capacity with a cap of 250 people.
