Community Support of Davie EDC Leads to Impressive Job and Investment Growth

In December 2013, the Davie County Economic Development Commision launched the “Together We Are Davie” campaign, an ambitious economic growth initiative to create over 1,200 new jobs and to raise $100 million in new corporate investments by 2018. The community was challenged to meet a capital fundraising goal of $1 MILLION DOLLARS. The town of Mocksville raced into the Christmas season on November 16th with the 7th Annual “Twas the Night Before” Bed Race as 23 race teams made the mad dash down Main Street. 2018 Mocksville Bed Races Thank you to Ed Simmons for the awesome photos! Historic Downtown Mocksville will race into the Christmas season this Friday night, November 16th as 25 whacky, whimsical, and outrageous teams from local businesses, non-profits,  and WXII-12 News take part in the 7th annual “Twas the Night Before” Bed Race. DavieLEADS – Building Momentum on Encouraging First Year Results

Davie County Schools is on a roll–an honor roll. The North Carolina Department of Public Instruction has released its statewide End-of-Grade (EOG) test data for 2017-18, and Davie County has moved from 45th to 17th out of 115 districts in 3rd-grade reading proficiency.  Based on last year’s test results, Cooleemee Elementary is now in the top 4 percent of North Carolina elementary schools for academic growth, with a ranking of 47th out of 1,218 schools statewide. In addition, kindergarten readiness in Davie County has improved from 71 percent to 80 percent based on the Dial-4 screening assessment. These are just […]
