Davie County Honors All of our Veterans on Veteran’s Day 2011

The four oak trees standing tall on the square in historic downtown Mocksville were a perfect setting as Davie County came together to honor our veterans today.  The Davie County High School Woodwinds Ensemble, the Jr. ROTC, scouts, veteran’s, students, community leaders and citizens came together today to honor our veterans. Manufacturing Jobs Coming to Mocksville

National Flooring Distributors of Louisville, Kentucky will open a 31,500 square foot manufacturing operation on Industrial Boulevard in Mocksville. Production at the plant will begin ramping up before 2011 year end and dozens of new jobs will be created before the plant reaches production capacity of 20,000 square feet per 8 hour shift. Employment growth at the plant should continue through at least 2012. 2011 Mocksville Christmas Parade ~ Applications Available Now!

The Theme of the 20111 Mocksville Christmas Parade is “Christmas on Main Street, ” celebrating the 20 year anniversary of Mocksville being a “Main Street Community,”  a program of the National Trust for Historic Preservation.  The 2011 Mocksville Christmas Parade will be held on Saturday, December3rd at 2 PM. Go War Eagles! Davie County Enters the State Championship Chase at Home Tonight

Davie in the Go-To Game Tonight According to the Salisbury Post, the Davie game tonight against Dudley is the go-to game for fans wanting to see a highly competitive game for the first round of NCHSAA Division 4A Playoffs. According to another article in the Salisbury Post, Dudley averages 18 points a game and allows 19. Davie scores 29 per game and allows 22. Free Event ~ “The Genius of Mark Twain” ~ Coming to Davie County Public Library!

Dr. Elliot Engel; Scholar, Performer and Storyteller Coming to Davie County Library ~ Two Performances Dr. Elliot Engel travels the world speaking throughout the U.S. and in Europe, Asia, Australia and New Zealand. Free Halloween Carnival Tonight 5:30 – 8:30 PM @ Brock Gym, North Main Street, Mocksville

Free Family Event ~ Halloween at the Brock Gym Davie County will host our annual Halloween Carnival tonight (October 31st, 2011) from 5:30-8:3- PM at the Brock Gym at 644 North Main Street in Mocksville.  Come dressed for Halloween fun.  There will be games and treats for kids and adults of all ages.

Free Outdoor Concert Saturday

Free Community Concert Saturday, October 29th, 7 – 9 PM Historic Downtown Mocksville will host a free concert this Saturday evening from 7-9 PM under the oaks on the square in downtown Mocksville.  Tony Montieth will be playing soft rock from the 80’s and 90’s. DCCC Awarded $2.6 Million ~ Deliver High Skilled Training for High Wage Jobs!

DCCC, the Community College of Davidson and Davie Counties is one of the first community colleges in North Carolina to benefit from workforce development and training grants announced by the US Department of Labor and the US Department of Education.
