$2 Million Grant Awarded to Mocksville for Infrastructure Improvements to Support Jobs

By Jeanna Baxter White The North Carolina Rural Infrastructure Authority has awarded the Town of Mocksville a $2 million Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) to support public water and sewer improvements to accommodate Brakebush Brothers, Inc., a manufacturer of processed poultry products for foodservice, industrial, and chain accounts. The company began operations in Mocksville in October. The grant supports the creation of more than 200 jobs, along with a private investment of $60 million. Intersection and Crosswalk Improvements Coming to Downtown Mocksville

By Jeanna Baxter White The Town of Mocksville will be getting a new, improved crosswalk at the main intersection of Hwy 158 (Main Street) and Depot Street following the Board of Transportation’s funding approval of a pedestrian safety improvement plan presented by the North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT) on December 5th. According to the DOT’s proposal, the new crosswalk will include flashing crossing lights, a pavement stamp with reflective markings to enhance the outline of the crosswalk for motorists, and curb extensions (bumpouts) to shorten the distance pedestrians must walk to cross the street. Skyline National Bank Grand Opening in Mocksville this Thursday, December 12th!

Come One, Come All; Cooleemee Christmas Parade, This Saturday, November 30th!

The Town of Cooleemee will host its second annual Christmas parade at 4 p.m. on Saturday, November 30th. The parade will begin at Cooleemee Elementary School at 136 Marginal Street and end at the Zachary House at 131 Church Street.
