Classic Cars “Cruise-In” Monday Night in Mocksville

Visit the beautiful square in historic downtown Mocksville this evening for a classic car “Cruise-In” presented by the Piedmont Classic C.A.R.S. Club. The cruise-in draws participants from the surrounding areas stretching from the Virginia border to the Sandhills. If the weather is good, the cruise-in will draw as many as 250 cars. Music and 50/50 Raffle Music will be provided throughout the evening by DJ Barry Lentz and there will also be a 50/50 raffle. Free Summer Concert This Saturday – “The Legends”

Presented by Historic Downtown Mocksville The 2012 summer concert series in historic downtown Mocksville begins this Saturday, June 16th with rock and roll from the 80’s presented by “The Legends.” This free summer concert runs from 6:30 to 8:30 pm.  Bring a lawn chair or blanket and enjoy live music under the mighty oaks on the Mocksville town square near 101 North Main Street. Breathing New Life into the Historic 600,000 square-foot Mill in Cooleemee

Hard work, big dreams and innovative thinking have begun to breathe new life into the 600,000 square-foot cotton mill which has been standing idle in Cooleemee since 1969.  The Cooleemee mill was once the most powerful economic engine in Davie County, North Carolina.  After opening in 1901, the mill employed almost 2,000 people at its peak until it was closed in 1969. Ingersoll Rand Adding 60 Jobs in Davie County!

Governor Bev Perdue was in Mocksville today to announce that Ingersoll Rand will expand its operations in Davie County.  The company plans to create 60 jobs and invest nearly $22 million over the next three years in Mocksville. Salaries will vary by job function, but the average annual wage for the new jobs will be $35,230.
