Great bargains on new and gently used books can be found at the Friends of Davie County Public Library book sale this weekend.  Held every spring and fall, the book sales are the volunteer organization’s main fundraiser. The book sale is located at Davie County Public Library, 371 N. Main St. Mocksville. Book sale organizers are happy to report no price increase for books in 2013. Organ Recital & Shop Presentation at Historic Textile Mill in Cooleemee

On Saturday, April 16th at the mill in Cooleemee, Dr. Timothy Olsen, Kenan Professor of Organ, U of NC School of the Arts will performing on the new LEWTAK handmade pipe organ destined for the Osterhab Kirke (Church) in Denmark.  The public is invited. The organ was designed, engineered and built by hand over the last 18 months, with construction over the last 12 months by Tom Lewtak occurring inside the historic textile mill in Cooleemee.  The recital is a free community event. ” Shabby Chic” ~ Unleash Your Inner Artist and Support Local Families!

State of Davie County 2013: Proud of Past Successes, Eager to Reach New Heights

On Friday, March 22, more than 125 business and community leaders met at the WinMock at Kinderton in Bermuda Run for the “State of Davie” conference hosted by The Business Journal and sponsored by Century Link, Energy United and Novant Health, to discuss Davie County’s recent accomplishments in spurring economic growth in the county and the challenges it faces in the coming years.
